Overview
Marrowvale sells meal kits through a subscription model. Customers choose their meals every week and expect the ordering process to be quick and reliable. Before this project, Marrowvale relied on a generic subscription plugin that couldn’t keep pace with a growing customer base, and it showed at checkout.
The Challenge
A review of Marrowvale’s storefront pointed to a few clear problems holding back the subscription experience:
- Customers had to re-enter delivery and payment details on every repeat order
- The subscription plugin couldn’t handle custom weekly meal selections
- There was no way for customers to track a delivery once it left the warehouse
- Checkout involved several unnecessary steps, which slowed customers down
Our Strategy
The plan focused on two connected goals: rebuild the ordering system around Marrowvale’s actual subscription model, and remove friction from checkout so customers could complete orders without extra steps.
Phase 1: Custom Subscription System
- Built a custom ordering system designed specifically for weekly meal kit subscriptions
- Allowed customers to set meal preferences once and reuse them for future orders
- Connected the subscription system directly to Marrowvale’s inventory and delivery workflow
Phase 2: Checkout & Delivery Experience
- Simplified the checkout flow by removing repeated data entry steps
- Integrated real-time delivery tracking directly into the storefront
- Tested the full ordering journey on mobile and desktop before launch
Results
- Launched a custom subscription ordering system built for meal kit delivery
- Checkout speed improved, which reduced cart abandonment
- Real-time delivery tracking is now built directly into the storefront
Client Testimonial
“Our subscription orders used to feel like a workaround. Now the whole process, from choosing meals to tracking the delivery, feels like it was built for how our customers actually shop.”

Key Takeaway
Marrowvale’s results show what happens when a subscription system is built around the actual buying pattern, not a generic template. Once repeat ordering and tracking became part of the storefront itself, customers had fewer reasons to abandon their cart.
