Overview
Homestead Co. offers home services across several categories, from repairs to maintenance. Despite decades in business, their service pages were barely visible in search, and broken links across the site were quietly blocking search engines from finding key pages.
The goal was to get every service page properly indexed and easy to navigate.
The Challenge
- Several service pages weren’t indexed at all.
- Broken internal links prevented search engines from reaching newer pages.
- No clear separation between similar services, causing overlap.
- Crawl budget was being wasted on outdated, low-value pages.
Our Strategy
The plan started with fixing what search engines couldn’t see or reach, then moved on to cleaning up overlapping content and building trust signals. Each phase addressed a layer of the visibility problem.
Phase 1: Technical SEO Foundation
- Identified and fixed broken internal and external links.
- Removed or redirected outdated, low-value pages.
- Rebuilt the XML sitemap to prioritize key service pages.
Phase 2: Content & Service Structure
- Separated overlapping service pages to target distinct search intent.
- Added FAQ and service schema markup.
- Strengthened internal linking between related services.
Phase 3: Authority & Trust Signals
- Earned backlinks from local business associations and directories.
- Built citations across home service platforms.
- Added customer review schema to service pages.
