Overview
Stackr faced the challenge of almost no visibility in organic search, while operating in one of the most competitive digital markets, despite being a rapidly growing real estate platform. After launching their website, they implemented no SEO strategy. Because of this, they had critical technical problems, low quality content, and no backlink authority. As a result, they were missing out on thousands of clients who were searching to use their services.
Their goal was to build a new customer acquisition channel that was sustainable through organic search and would decrease the use of paid advertising that was becoming more expensive to use.
The Challenge
When this project began, Stackr had only 420 visitors each month from organic search, and the majority of these visitors were searching their brand rather than searching for real estate services.
One of the many challenges of this project was a comprehensive SEO audit.
- 47 crawl and indexing errors
- Meta titles and descriptions are completely missing on most primary pages
- Structured data is not used
- Service pages have an average content length of 180 words
- Core Web Vitals are failed on both mobile and desktop
- Lack of topical authority for the industry
- Backlink profiles are almost nonexistent compared to competition
On the reverse end, competing sites had solid content, a strong foundation for SEO, and a solid domain authority that led them to dominate rankings on page one. The situation Stackr was in was not just poor. They were almost completely invisible to the audience they intended to reach.
Our Strategy
For this situation, the foundation of our plan was a 3-pillar, long-term and sustainable strategy, comprised of technically correct SEO, an expansion of content, and building authority.
Phase 1: Technical SEO Foundation
We first ensured search engines could crawl, understand, and index the site before seeking rankings.
- Major updates in this phase included:
- Fixing all crawl and index issues
- Adding canonical tags on every page
- Repairing all internal and external broken links
- Improving and optimising the XML sitemap and the robots.txt files
- Structured data markup was added
- Site structure and internal linking was optimised and improved
- Improved core web vitals
- Site speed was improved with the following:
- Image optimisation at an advanced level
- Minification of code
- Repairing and fixing lazy loading
- Implemented and improved both server-side and browser caching
- Scripting was optimised
The performance of the site improved, and now the site meets the Core Web Vitals of Google.
Phase 2: Content & Topical Authority
We performed keyword research to identify high intent keywords at different levels of the customer journey. The outcome of the keyword research was a list of 340 key business keywords.
The following were some of the goals of the content strategy:
- Rebuild service pages increasing the word count from 180 to 1200+
- Add keyword focused content clusters
- Improve the heading hierarchy
- Enhance internal links to key pages
- Optimise key pages for conversions
To further increase search visibility, our content strategy included an ongoing program to publish 4 SEO focused articles monthly.
The target audience and search articles were focused on informational and long-tail search queries to improve the topic and build authority in the real estate industry.
Phase 3: Authority & Link Acquisition
To begin competing with the larger players in the industry, a digital outreach and PR strategy was used.
In this process, we accomplished the following:
- High-quality backlinks were earned
- Gained placements in industry-related publications
- Secured contextual editorial mentions
- Gained niche-related guest posting opportunities
All links earned were obtained through genuine outreach, relationship building, and no black hat strategies (private blog networks, link farms, low-quality tactics) were used.
The final outcome was an improved backlink profile that positively impacted rankings and improved domain authority overall.
